College magazine analysis

                           Task 3: Preliminary Task (Planning)

  • Big, Bright masthead of the word ' college' stands out straight away as it stands out on a dark background and appeals to the target audience.
  • Teasers are always either on the right hand side on the front of the magazine, it usually catches the reader's eye and makes them want to read more about the magazine.
  • The image medium shot (from the waist up) itself is a boy college student standing up right carrying text books which relate to the subjects he is possibly taking.
  • Pricing and bar code are in the bottom left hand corner.
  • A website is listed just below the heading so that students can access more information online.
  • Use of props of study books, makes the student chilled and relaxed.
  • Colors- White, lime, greenish color stands out on a black background and catches the reader's attention. Also the pink splat draws the reader's eye as it bright pink and appeals to college students who are interested in paint-balling.

  1. It is good to see you trying to show your journey and commenting on the process. You do need to reflect on your work, the skills and process and blog your thoughts more frequently and in more detail. Ensure you upload all your work the work you have completed isn’t too bad, the case studies of the front covers (Vibe and Q) are not too bad. You might benefit from concentrating on one genre. Try to be more analytical, you are a little too descriptive at the moment, use the assignment brief for guidance. Also you need to analyse a contents and double page spread for each magazine.
